Recent courtroom results include a $976 million seatbelt-defect verdict against Mitsubishi Motors, a $220 million tire-defect wrongful-death verdict against Michelin North America, a $31 million catastrophic trucking case verdict, a $32.8 million tire-defect verdict against Cooper Tire later confirmed on writ by the U.S. Supreme Court, and the $49.3 million Sandy Hook defamation verdict against Alex Jones. Together, these outcomes underscore not only the scale of the harm suffered by his clients, but his uncommon ability to take the hardest cases to trial – and win.

Mr. Farrar was nationally recognized for his work as co-lead counsel in a first of its kind defamation case against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who falsely claimed the mass shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012 was a hoax. That case resulted in a $49.3 million verdict on behalf of one victim’s family, marking the first time Jones would be held financially liable for his false statements about the shooting. He was named National Appellate Lawyer of the Year in 2022 and Minnesota Lawyer of the Year in 2021. 

In practicing with this firm for nearly 20 years, his relentless pursuit of justice has made him a national thought leader in tire and vehicle safety, prompting manufacturers to enhance safety measures and recall defective products.

One example is the firm’s $32.8 million verdict against Cooper Tire in a lawsuit over a fatal 2007 vehicle rollover caused by tire tread separation. Serving as co-lead counsel for the six passengers involved in the car wreck and their families, Mr. Farrar and Wes Ball obtained key documents showing that Cooper Tire was aware of dangerous defects in several of its tire lines, which are no longer manufactured following the result.

Mr. Farrar has been appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in two MDL proceedings: MDL 2666: In re: Bair Hugger Forced Air Warming Products Liability Litigation; and MDL 2765: In Re: Smith & Nephew Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation.
